Meet Dr. Jesse Davis, DC

Dr. Jesse Davis has been practicing chiropractic in the greater Boston area since 2006, providing thoughtful, specific, and practice member-centered care for the Melrose community. He is a past board member and continuing education instructor for the Gonstead Methodology Institute, which named him its Chiropractor of the Year in 2010. His approach focuses on understanding each person's health history, evaluating spinal function, and delivering precise chiropractic adjustments tailored to the individual.

Before dedicating his career to chiropractic, Dr. Davis worked as a molecular genetics researcher, with work published in peer reviewed journals including BMC Genomics and Nucleic Acids Research. What To Expect As A New Practice Member

Starting chiropractic care for the first time can feel like a big step. Here is a simple look at what your first few visits with Dr. Davis will involve, from your initial exam through your ongoing care plan.

Your First Visit

We will review your health history, which you can fill out online beforehand to save time, and discuss your goals. Dr. Davis performs a spinal exam using postural analysis, instrumentation, and palpation, takes x-rays when appropriate, and delivers your first specific adjustment.

02 About 30 Min

Your Second Visit

Dr. Davis reviews your x-ray findings with you, answers any remaining questions, and discusses your healthcare goals. Together you will settle on a care plan and a follow-up schedule that fits your needs.

How much does care cost?

Our non-emergency intake is an out-of-pocket investment of $177. It includes a thorough consultation and health history, a detailed exam, and an initial conservative adjustment. Ongoing visits to correct the initial findings typically run $50 per visit based on the complexity of the issue ($67 for highly complex cases), and there are payment options available to reduce costs for practice members who need them.

Where are you located, and how do I get there?

We are located next to the corner of Emerson St. and Main St. in Melrose, a half block from City Hall and the Fire Station, just north of downtown. Parking is available on the street across from the office and on adjacent Main St. There is also an hourly municipal lot across the street behind the dentist, accessible from Main St. Melrose is easily reached from all major routes in the north Boston area, including Route 1, I-93, and I-95. If you're traveling from farther away (NH/Maine, western or southern MA), please let us know and we'll plan ahead to schedule the ideal appointment time.

Who do you see?

Dr. Davis's training allows him to see practice members of all ages and types. He especially enjoys working with families, high performers, and people of all shapes and sizes who are looking to actively improve their health and quality of life.

Do I need a referral?

No. Most of our practice members are referred to the office by our many satisfied practice member families. We offer very competitive office fees so practice members can receive care regardless of their insurance company's policies, and prior authorizations are very rarely required these days.

What about imaging (X-rays, MRI)?

Melrose's health care zoning is full of older buildings, so we refer out of the office for imaging when it's needed. If you have prior imaging, please send it to the office ahead of time or bring it with you for review.

What is a chiropractic adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a quick, specific thrust used to correct a misaligned spinal vertebra (or other joint). It's designed to take pressure and stress off the nerves in the area and improve mobility, alignment, and function. The adjustment is what we use to help restore normal, healthy function to the body, and it is the primary reason for the results we get with practice members.

Does it hurt? What does an adjustment feel like?

Most people really enjoy getting adjusted. It feels like a quick squeeze at a very specific spinal location based on the exam findings. You may feel a spinal bone move slightly, and there may be a bit of noise. That said, the affected area is often already sore and swollen, so the adjustment may feel a bit like a "bite" to the extent that we are working on a misaligned, stressed area that needs help.

Do you accept insurance?

Davis Chiropractic of Melrose offers competitive costs for those paying out of pocket. For practice members with insurance, we can provide a superbill to help you file a claim, or we can file directly from the office. We are also in network with several insurers, including BCBS and Medicare, which can be more directly involved for the initial/acute portion of care.
